چکیده
Breast cancer is the most common malignancy in women and among indications of oncologic positron emission tomography (PET) studies. In this review article, updated anatomical, pathological, clinical information about breast were provided for Nuclear Medicine physicians to better understand interpret PET images a literature on use imaging was summarized.

PET imaging in breast cancer
The application of Positron Emission Tomography (PET) using 2-[F18] fluoro-2-deoxy-D-Glucose (FDG) and the more recently fused technique of Computerized Tomography and PET (PET/CT) in patients with breast cancer is reviewed. Their role in diagnosis of primary tumour, staging, chemotherapy monitoring and radiotherapy planning, follow-up and restaging is introduced. The advantages of combination ...
متن کاملMolecular Imaging in Breast Cancer: From Whole-Body PET/CT to Dedicated Breast PET
Positron emission tomography (PET), with or without integrated computed tomography (CT), using 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) is based on the principle of elevated glucose metabolism in malignant tumors, and its use in breast cancer patients is frequently being investigated. It has been shown useful for classification, staging, and response monitoring, both in primary and recurrent disease. Howev...
متن کاملIssues pertaining to PET imaging of liver cancer
Positron emission tomography (PET) imaging using 2-deoxy-2-[F-18]fluoro-D-glucose (FDG) has proven valuable in the diagnosis, staging and restaging for many cancers. However, its application for liver cancer has remained limited owing in part to the relatively high background uptake of the tracer in the liver plus the significant variability of the tumor specific uptake in liver cancer among pa...
متن کاملPET Tracers for Clinical Imaging of Breast Cancer
Molecular imaging of breast cancer has undoubtedly permitted a substantial development of the overall diagnostic accuracy of this malignancy in the last years. Accurate tumour staging, design of individually suited therapies, response evaluation, early detection of recurrence and distant lesions have also evolved in parallel with the development of novel molecular imaging approaches. In this co...
متن کاملPET imaging of breast cancer in clinical practice
Imaging options There are several imaging options capable of identifying and defining breast cancer. These include X-ray mammography, ultrasound, computer tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET). Newer modalities such as positron emission mammography (PEM) or near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), recently or soon to be available in clinical practice...
